Your Product Catalog in Junip is how we store information about your products. It's used when matching reviews to products and displaying reviews between regional storefronts and shopping channels.
Continue reading to learn how to edit your Product Catalog in Junip to ensure the information is accurate and up to date.
What is a Product Catalog?
A Product Catalog contains information about the products a merchant sells. It's a way of consolidating and communicating consistent product information among partners and sales channels.
Your Product Catalog in Junip is used to help match reviews to products within Junip, as well as syndicating between regional storefronts or other sales channels (i.e. Google Shopping).
What information is stored in a Product Catalog?
Depending on where a Product Catalog is being used, the information it contains may vary. In Junip, your Product Catalog only contains Product Identifiers.
How it works
When a brand connects their Shopify store to their Junip account, we automatically sync the product information that exists in their Shopify catalog to create their Product Catalog in Junip. Not all Product Identifiers that Junip uses are supported in Shopify, so we give you the option to add them directly from Junip.
Here's an overview of the Product Identifiers stored in your Junip Product Catalog and how they're managed:

Editing Your Product Catalog
When you add new products to your catalog or make changes in other apps that use your Product Catalog, it's important to carry over these changes in Junip. When your Product Catalog in Junip is out of date, this can cause issues when mapping reviews to products and syncing reviews between stores or sales channels.
How to update the GTIN, Brand, & SKU
For consistency purposes, the GTIN, Brand, and SKU Product Identifiers can only be updated from your Shopify admin.
Open your Shopify admin > go to the Products section > and select the product in which you will be updating
Use the SKU field to edit the product's SKU, use the Barcode field to edit the product's GTIN & use the Vendor field to edit the product's Brand
❗️Note: Make sure you are entering a valid GTIN. Junip validates all GTIN data to ensure the data is accurate and legitimate. If an invalid GTIN is entered, Junip will not accept it.
Once you're done making changes, press "Save"
To view the changes in your Junip admin, open the product you have just updated in the Products section of your Junip admin. Under the section called "Unique Product Identifiers" is where you will see the updated identifiers.
Go to the products section of your Shopify admin and select the products you would like to update. Once selected press "bulk edit" in the lower menu
This will open up Shopify's bulk editor. Use the column selector to add the SKU and Barcode fields to the editing window
Use the Vendor field to edit the product's Brand, use the SKU field to edit the product's SKU & use the Barcode field to edit the product's GTIN
❗️Note: Make sure you are entering a valid GTIN. Junip validates all GTIN data to ensure the data is accurate and legitimate. If an invalid GTIN is entered, Junip will not accept it
Enter the values for the identifiers you want to update, then press "Save"
Press "Generate CSV Export" > "Download". This will download a file in your browser containing the updated Product Identifiers in your Junip Product Catalog.
How to add MPNs to your Product Catalog in Junip
Shopify does not support MPNs, they must be added directly from Junip.
Go to the Products section in your Junip admin and select the product you'd like to edit. This will open an expanded view of the product info
In the Unique Product Identifiers section, you'll see an overview of the UPI data associated with the product you're viewing and any product variants. Hover over the variant you'd like to update and click "Edit". Enter the MPN and click "Save".
After you're done making changes click "Save" and this will automatically update the MPN for the product.
In your Junip admin, head to settings > Syndication settings > press "Manage Catalog". This will open your catalog settings. From here, press "Generate CSV Export" and download the file
❗️Note: it's important that you do not use Excel to open and edit this file as it will disrupt the formatting. We recommend using Google Sheets.
This file contains the Product Identifiers that are being stored in your Junip Product Catalog. Open this file and use the MPN column to enter a product's MPN where needed
Once you're done editing the file, save it as a CSV. Press "Upload CSV", drag & drop the edited file into the importer and press "Import CSV"
After Junip is finished importing the file, you will see a banner at the top of the screen that tells you if there were any issues updating your catalog.
To view the changes made to your Junip Product Catalog, press "Generate CSV Export" > "Download". This will download a file in your browser containing the updated Product Identifiers in your Junip Product Catalog.
